Earthquakes in the Central Asian seismically active zone, 1957−1961
The database includes a catalogue of earthquakes that occurred in the Central Asian seismically active zone from January 1957 to December 1961, published in the quarterly Bulletin of the USSR Seismic Stations Network [1]
The catalogue contains basic data for all earthquakes for which epicenters were determined, namely: the moment of occurrence of the earthquake (Greenwich Mean Time), the coordinates of the source, the accuracy class, the instrumental intensity (M) and a list of stations, according to whose observations the coordinates of the source and the maximum amplitudes of ground vibrations were determined.
In addition to the main data, detailed data on some earthquakes are provided, namely: arrival times of various waves at seismic stations and, in some cases, the displacement sign at the entrance of longitudinal waves; maximum amplitudes of ground vibrations and corresponding periods; the distances (measured) to the epicenter; the area where the earthquake occurred. Information on local earthquakes is also included.
When creating the earthquake catalog of the Central Asian seismically active zone, basic data on 6,825 earthquakes and detailed data on 425 seismic events occurred in the territory of 43−90° N, 125−175° E were used.
The catalog for the Central Asian zone was compiled by the Tajik Complex Geophysical/Seismological Expedition, the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR / the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR, the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, the Central Seismic Station "Tashkent", the Central Seismic Station "Alma-Ata"

The data were transferred from paper to electronic form at the World Data Center for Solid Earth Physics within the framework of the Geophysical Center RAS project "Preservation of Historical Data" and are presented in three formats — PDF, Excel and TXT (ASCII).
The electronic version of the catalogue in PDF format contains basic data on earthquakes, detailed data and information on local earthquakes. Seismic station information published in some issues of the Bulletin is also presented here
1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 Station information

The electronic versions of the catalogue in Excel and TXT (ASCII) formats contain only basic earthquake data and include notes on the availability of detailed data in the PDF version of the catalogue.

The scheme of spatial distribution of earthquake epicenters in the Central Asian seismically active zone.
Hollow circles indicate earthquakes for which the instrumental intensity (M) has not been determined.

The data on earthquakes in the Central Asian zone presented here fill the time gap between the catalogue presented in the "Atlas of Earthquakes in the USSR" (1911 - 1957) [2] and the data on earthquakes in the yearbooks "Earthquakes in the USSR" (1962-1991) [3].
