Atlas of earthquakes in the USSR

Results of observations of the seismic station network in the USSR
1911 - 1957

The development of instrumental observations at the beginning of the 20th century led to the registration of a large number of earthquakes in different regions of Northern Eurasia. The instrumental data obtained from the network of stationary stations in the USSR from 1911 to 1957 were collected, processed according to a unified technique with an assessment of the reliability of the results, and were included in the "Atlas of Earthquakes in the USSR".
The observation results are presented in the form of earthquake catalogues for the entire territory of the USSR and for nine seismically active zones of the USSR territory. There are about 10,000 events in total. Catalogues are parametric, i.e. include the standard values of the parameters of each earthquake: the moment of occurrence, the position of the source with an estimate of the accuracy of its determination, the intensity and magnitude.
Additionally, for some zones, information on earthquakes for the historical period and instrumental data before 1911 is provided.

Based on the material presented in the "Atlas of Earthquakes in the USSR", a database was compiled for each seismically active zone of the USSR territory, including earthquake catalogues in PDF, Excel and ASCII formats, maps of the location of earthquake epicenters, information about seismic stations, descriptions and bibliography.
